Hope that all is well.
We have been very busy these last few months here in Teopisca involving ourselves with various projects and ministries. One such project involves the orphanage that we are working with down here.
We are now the proud owners of a tilapia farm. We received two generous donations from a contact in the U.S. and since the beginning of this year we have been repairing and constructing and cleaning out four tanks of various sizes in preperation for the arrival of the little tilapia frys.
We decided to "remodel" three pig pens and make them smaller tilapia tanks to raise the little frys for the first month.
Here we are building a small structure to house the water and air pump so that they are not exposed to the elements.
Then we had to put a roof on the smaller tanks. This is the first part of of enclosing the tanks so that we can keep the fish warmer. We will be finishing up this part of the project in the coming weeks.
The air pump keeps enough oxygen in the tanks so that the fish have a sufficient amount of that good ole O2 available to keep them alive...pretty important don't you think. It is simply a soaker hose that is attached to the air pump.
Praise God the day finally arrived!!!!! Some pics of us bringing in 1,500 tilapia frys....not sure how this is going to all work but we are giving it a good try!!!! That purple stuff you see if a disinfectant which acts like a medicine to help heal any abrasions to the fish during their travel to Teopisca.
Well that is all for now. I will be posting more in the days ahead. Please pray for this specific project because we really are not skilled fish farmers...but as with all things, we know the Lord is in control of the outcome down here.
