Current update on the progress of the orphanage

Hello friends,

Thought it was about time to get you all updated on the progress of the first and second phase structures of the orphanage (1st and 2nd phases being the first and second stories of the main structure at the new facility).

When the concrete is poured the first time, it is really rough so to make it nice and pretty (and not so hard on the hands) we have to put an additonal covering of "smooth" cement...that is what is going on in these first few photos...

=

Then do some painting...

And it begins to look pretty good don't you think!!!

The same goes with the inside...this is the ceiling and to make the smooth cement mixture stick, we have to rough it up a little with a metal bar...

Then slap that smoother cement mixture up and smooth is out...

Then paint it and again it looks pretty good...

We have tiled the stairs, the upstairs living room and the boys room thus far...I think the staircase looks unique...at least compared to the other tile that we laid in the first two stages!

Upstairs living room...

The boys room...

The kitchen with SOME of the cabinets in place...not sure where our carpenter is hiding out right now...if you see him, please send him back to the orphanage to finish the job!!!

Here is a good praise worthy story. The pics below where taken a few months back but I am just now sending them because we just now got the filters installed and water up and running into the main structure. We had been praying for months about what to do about the water situation at the facility because there is no water supply near our property (we were having it trucked in and that is pretty expensive). Well, one day we were doing some digging on the property (forgot what we were going to build) and all of a sudden water starting spewing up from the ground...it turns out that there is a water line running across part of our property and down here if it is on your property, you can use it...so we tapped into the water line and now we have all the water we need!!!!! How good is our God!!!!!!!

Pics from the day that we discovered the water line which was a few months back...

These pics were taken just a few weeks ago when we installed the water filtration system that brings water to the main structure. And since we are praising the Lord right now, you can also praise God for he moved someone to donate the large filtration system that we installed...

That is about it right now...we have done other things but I will continue to give updates along the way.

Thank you for all of your continued support; both monetarily and prayers!!!!

Blessings to you all,

Lance, Sarita, Joshua and Caleb

Vacation Bible School 2010

Hey everyone,

Well another summer has come and gone (at least down here in south Mexico) and that means that another year of Vacation Bible School has passed us by. This year we were involved with two different VBS and actually there is a possibility that a third could happen but we shall see. Since we have been here in Teopisca, it is the fourth year that we have been involved with VBS (2007 - we arrived in June, 2008, 2009, 2010)

We picked up anywhere between 15 and 27 kids every day for the VBS. Some of these children go to our church but many of them do not. For some of them it was their first VBS but others have been before. Please continue to pray that no matter where theses children are at in their life journeys, that they will all come to worship at the feet of our dear Savior.

No church van, but this will have to do!!!!!

The crew during the first week of VBS...

These pics are from the VBS about "The Life of Paul"....

Every afternoon we would start the school with the pledges to the Mexican flag, the Church flag and the Bible...

Some of the crafts and art that the children took part in...

Graduation...about 70 attended this VBS

The second VBS was not as formal (meaning not as many stage props) but nonetheless the children heard the word of God...the word of God that changes life!

Sarah and I were more involved in this VBS as we taught almost all of the curriculum...including puppets, Bible story and Bible questions! Just a little harder this year as we had two little ones to deal with...

and here was an additional puppet!!!!!

Crafts for the kids...

How proud they are of their work...

This was the first year that Joshua was able to really take part in the school...he loved it soooooo much...

Games and food!!!

Mom, Joshua and Caleb hanging out...

Graduation Day...so many parents came to this graduation...and about 90 kids for VBS

Hey, who is that little white boy singing down in the front row...

Joshua helping out with the singing...

And Joshua getting a gift for bringing the second most kids with him to VBS...

We left to take the children back to their houses and as we dropped off the last 5 kids at the top of the mountain, we saw this amazing rainbow as we drove back down...what a great two weeks...

Blessings to all,

Lance, Sarita, Joshua and Caleb
